YVETTE SIRKER, MFA
Writing & Media Specialist
Yvette Sirker is an award winning playwright, theater producer, and stage director. As a playwright, her work has been seen Off-Broadway, Off-Off Broadway, in regional theaters, colleges and university across the United States. In previous incarnations, Ms. Sirker was a professional actress having performed in theater, television and film.
As an educator, Ms. Sirker is an Arts Infusion Specialist with 24 years of teaching experience working with pre-K through 12th grade teachers and students to enhance general curriculum through the arts. For Reid Middle School, Ms. Sirker has designed and implemented an English Language Arts Enrichment curriculum rooted in media arts and the principles of multiple intelligences. Embedded in the Writing & Media Workshop curriculum are 31 Common Core Standards in accordance with the Massachusetts Framework for English Language Arts Literacy.
In addition to her work as Writing and Media Specialist for Reid Middle School, Ms. Sirker serves as Adjunct Professor of Communications for Berkshire Community College. Ms. Sirker holds a B.A. in English from Cornell University and an MFA in Acting from New York University. Professional affiliations include Actors Equity Association, Screen Actors Guild and Dramatists Guild of America, Massachusetts Teachers Association, Massachusetts Community College Council, Pittsfield Public Schools Cultural Competency and Inclusion Council, and the Board of Directors for Pittsfield Education Foundation. Ms. Sirker has been awarded grants and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Louisiana Division of the Arts, the Arts Council of New Orleans, Dramatists Guild of America, Bellsouth, RosaMary Foundation, Berkshire Bank Foundation, and Pittsfield Cultural Council.
